I made the mistake of applying a rub on to a dark patterned paper.  I should have applied the rub on to a lighter piece of cardstock and center that on the darker pattern.  That way it could be read.

Make the background of your 2-page layout fit together like the large inverted triangle I made with the backgrounds of these two layouts.

Use bookplates as tiny frames for some journaling.

Use eyelets as decoration and not just fasteners.  Try this!  Mat a large sticker to make a super quick border for your layout.

Don't be afraid to use non-scrapbooking materials like wire and beads.  Just pierce the paper on one side and string your beads, then loop the wire and pierce the other side.  You can link the ends in the back, or bend them back to keep it secure.  So easy and so impressive.

If you wish to change your scrapbook from 8 1/2 x 11" to 12 x 12,"  just mount your layout on a 12 x 12 " patterned paper and instant layout!

I used frames from Architextures to add texture, dimension,  and interest.

I used silk flowers with the centers pulled out, attached with brads.   Try looking for non-scrapbook materials that can enhance your layouts.

Choosing a monochromatic color scheme with black and white photos can make a very elegant layout. I got my inspiration from some sparkly dimensional stickers and matched everything else to them. The sparkly paper strips are actually strips cut from self adhesive glitter paper. However, I regret using glue for the vellum caption. I should have used brads or eyelets.

If you have some wedding photos that didn't look right or wasn't posed very well but you look great, crop out the bad and focus on the good. If you're too nervous about this, make a color copy and cut that one. Try this! Make your own mini frames with cardstock, paper cutter, ruler and x-acto knife. Cut out a square within a larger square with the paper cutter. Attach it to a contrasting cardstock and with an x-acto knife and ruler cut a smaller square. Now you can frame your photos with small subjects.

If you have professional photos or proofs that you want to scrapbook and don't want to crop, either color copy them or do as I did and get decorative photo corners.  This way you can easily remove the photo without fear of tearing or glue residue.

Don't forget to scrapbook your wedding announcement and engagement photo.  Even if you decide to frame it as a newlywed, eventually you'll want it in a book rather than a frame stuck in a box or worse, in the trash.

I made a layout that has our wedding vows inside the flap.  Whenever you have too much to fit on one page, make flap and decorate the front side and add the journaling on the inside.  I tucked the corners of the flap under some threaded ribbon to keep it folded flat.
