If you have a hard time figuring out what to journal in your layout (like me!) then try printing out facts about the event such as menu, history trivia, location, etc.
Try this! If you have a landscape picture and want to make it really stand out, make a mosaic. First, measure how many perfectly even squares you can make from this picture. Then, with a paper cutter, measure and cut out your pieces. Glue the pieces on to a piece of cardstock leaving a space in between each one and trim the edges.
When I put together this layout, I focused on several coordinating paper patterns. I bought the stickers to match as well. Some of the designer papers will come with coordinates and stickers. Take advantage of this and make a layout.

If you only have one photo to scrapbook and it isn't very large, look for a background paper that has a large pattern or pictures on it to fill up the empty space. Try this! Do you have an ink pad? Use it! Ink the edges of your paper or even lace to give it a worn, antique-y look.

I used a transparency that I found at a scrapbook store for this layout. It's a very easy way to add another layer to your scrapbook page without making it bulky. It was pretty expensive per sheet so I thought, "Why can't I make my own?" Office supply stores sell these in bulk so now you can design and print your own transparencies.
