I found some great metal accents to add a little texture to my layout.  Get some funky paper clips to use in your layouts.  They're not overbearing, but enough to add interest  Try this! Take several photos and line them up in sequential order like a makeshift comic strip.

I added belt buckles to my layout to add some whimsy.  I just trimmed a strip of paper and threaded it through.  Look around and see what buckles you might be able to use in your layouts.
